Colon Hydrotherapy

Brief Description

Colonic irrigation gently cleanses the colon by filling and flushing with purified water at varying temperatures. You lie relaxed on a table fully covered during the procedure. The treatment time usually lasts around 30 minutes; this is dependant on how your colon is releasing. A licensed colon therapist massages your abdomen, as well as your legs, stimulating your colon to remove both waste and gas while varying the water temperature to improve peristaltic action.  We use a closed system, meaning all waste leaves the body and goes directly into the plumbing.

The colon

A healthy colon is about five feet long and is approximately 2.5 inches in diameter. It is the last part of the digestive tract. The large intestine wraps around the abdominal body cavity from the right side of the body, across the top of the abdomen, and finally down the left side. It performs the vital functions of converting food into feces, absorbing essential vitamins produced by gut bacteria, and reclaiming water from the digested food. The colon has billions of Bacteria which aid in breaking down fiber as well as the production of Vitamin K, B1, B2, B6, B12 and Biotin. Gases such as carbon dioxide and methane are also produced as a byproduct.  A healthy colon is essential to a healthy body.  When the colon is working properly, it moves the food through peristalsis (muscular, wave-like motions) and eliminates unassimilated substances in the form of waste.  If the waste does not leave the body it creates harmful bacteria and toxins which create disease.  The average colon stores 5-20 lbs of waste matter depending upon how well you eliminate. Your colon muscle will stretch to accomodate the excess matter which is why it may take years for the toxins to create illness.

How many colonics do I need?

An effective cleansing program involves a series of colonics; minimally 3-6, combined with a healthy diet to detoxify the body and rejuvenate the colon. Many people feel a big difference after just one colonic, as old matter is washed out. However, the removal of large amounts of waste buildup is a gradual process and varies for each individual. Your body will change and improve from colonic to colonic.

Can a colonic be harmful?

No. Unlike laxatives, which inflame and irritate the colon while also creating a sluggish colon due to being habit-forming, a colonic is a gentle, thorough cleansing. Much more harm results from not washing out the toxic substances from inside the colon.

Tip #2

Chew, chew, chew. One of the most important things we can do for our digestive system is chew.  Our stomach is not a gargabe dispossal. The majority of digestion takes place in either the mouth or small intestine.  These enzymes are not strong enough to dissolve our food or they would damage delicate tissue.  If we want our digestive enzymes to break down our food for maximum absorbtion of nutrients; we must chew each bite of food 20-30X  or until it is liquidfied.
